Where I got my inspirations for the next economy

Our choice for dealing with the future: surf on the waves of challenge, or hide and wait and drown…

We are entering a historical era. Major historical never-seen challenges are converging as we speak. Tsunamis. They can be feared — or they can be considered as colossal opportunities. Waves to surf on. Obligations to open up to our true inner resilience, our unique excellences, our better self. The “system” as we have known it is cracking. And at every collapse or crisis, new intelligence emerges, but also new coherence — fresh alignment with natural principles of sharing resources and needs in an ecosystem — for the sake of survival of all its members. It’s not for everyone. But, as you have made it so far and read this book up till now, probably you are part of this emerging minority.

For most of us, the question arises: “Where are we headed ?”

Two very clear groups of people and organisations are now visible to the maked eye. Those who want to “go back like it was before — and are afraid”, and those who are curious and excited about the future, and reconnect to their power. The latter are positively opportunistic, and empowered — mostly after having to cope with some tough personal challenges: bankruptcy, divorce, illness, accident, death of a loved one — and went through humbling processes of awareness and reconnection — pulled by a search for deeper purpose. Psychological survival instinct or spiritual thriving ? Whatever. This movement has been centrifuging our egos and neurotics. It made us more humble, and thus more capable to stand on our surfboard — so we can tackle the next big waves of history — together !

So now, let’s address our way to surf on the next “big ones”. We have studied “paradigm shift”, and experienced for the last 20 years new ways of creating value.

Our major sources of knowledge are eclectic and pragmatic :

(a) Ancient spiritual wisdom. Why ? Because when you have nothing else than natural resources, and live in and from nature, you are truly connected to “reality”. You cannot hide behind fake, or dive into the noise and collective lures like in western society of our days, 99% of fake and “entertainment”.

(b) Human development and empowerment methods. Why ? Because we will not create anything of value with anxious or nevrotic, wounded or “lost” people. New and fresh value is only created with empowered people.

(c) Biomimetics. Why ? Because nature and its biology is a millions year old lab of balanced and regenerative systems. We tried to control it for the last 200 years — with the disastrous results we can see today with the naked eye.

(d) New smart business models worldwide. Why ? Because as we speak, there are millions of smart and conscious entrepreneurs who reinvent all functionalities of our society. Let’s connect with them for the best — and activate underused resources for efficient regenerative and profitable business models..

(e) Systemics, complexity theories, chaos management and cybernetics. Why ? Because it is a real science. Unlike “economy” — which is a false science. We will need this science to deal with the hypercomplex challenges ahead. Whether we like it or not, understand multiple causes and multiple effects.

(f) Stakeholders involvement models and collective intelligence in diversity. Why ? Because we will do nothing alone any more. We have to learn to collaborate with people we never spoke to. Get the best of each one for common progress.

(g) Listening carefully to the evolution of context… every day. Waves are coming up, randomly. Impossible to plan for the medium and long term. One step at a time, we have to progress, pivot, dance, surf, play,… No certainties, no ego, only a new joyful agility.

(h) Trust my intuition and instinct. Listen to it every day. Meditations. Yes, evcen with the team, when we don’t know, or are stuck, we stop and meditate, and with what comes out of it, we recompose and go on. It always was successful.

(i) Observe people’s behaviour. Needs and aspirations — fears and anxiety — deep values and virtues carrying us to the next level… I mapped all of those and start to make sense of human behaviour, what we do, why, and what is the purpose of this whole game on planet earth. But I needed to go deep into the darkest parts of myself and of humanity. It takes courage and discernment, but it seriously helps in making sense of events in- and outside me.
